Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy

The Physical Therapy program at Miami Neurological Institute's Brain and Spine Center is a comprehensive, hands-on program. Our specialty trained physical therapists have the skills to rehabilitate all diagnoses related to acute injuries, spinal pain management, chronic spinal injuries, non-operative and post-operative degenerative disc disease, sprains, strains, and sciatic pain. Our program is overseen by Medical Director, Dr. Santiago Figuereo, who is a board certified and fellowship trained neurological surgeon.

We offer our patients the latest technology in physical therapy exercise equipment for core strengthening and exercise flexibility. In conjunction with an exercise program, our physical therapists are trained in manual physical therapy, which is a specialized form of physical therapy techniques that are delivered with the hands, as opposed to a device or machine. Through the use of soft tissue manipulation and joint mobilization techniques, we are better able to optimize a patient's level of function. This eclectic approach to physical therapy treatment is evidence based, proving that patients have better outcomes. Studies have shown that the combination of exercise and manual physical therapy is most effective.
